I'm Max, MrHorda online. More than twenty years in IT, most of it spent around Linux, networking, storage and containers, and a homelab at home where I get to try things without a change window. This site is where I write that down.

What This Site Is

The blog is where I think a topic through properly: what changed, why it matters, and what it actually costs to run. Shorts are the same thing boiled down to sixty words, for when you only want the verdict. Both start from the primary source, not from someone else's summary of it.

What I Write About

  • Local AI on your own hardwarellama.cpp, OpenVINO, ComfyUI, quantisation, and the VRAM arithmetic that never makes it into the announcement.
  • Containers and LinuxDocker and Compose from the inside out, and the kernel features hiding underneath both of them.
  • Self-hostingMedia, home automation, backups, monitoring. The unglamorous half that keeps a homelab alive.
  • Tech news without the press releaseWhat shipped, what broke, and what it means if you run your own kit.

Where to Find Me

Away from the rack I still play games, and some of that ends up on camera.
